The Right Tools for Your SPEEDLINER Project

For perfect results with SPEEDLINER and SPEEDLINER Pro, you need the right tools in addition to the coating material. Well-maintained equipment allows you to work faster, cleaner, and ensures a uniform, long-lasting surface.

Why do you need specific tools?

The right choice of tools determines adhesion, texture, and layer thickness. Wrong or inadequate equipment can cause overspray, uneven layers, or unnecessary material waste.

Which tools are important?

  • Hopper/texture spray gun: For structured application of SPEEDLINER (e.g. hopper gun with fine nozzle)
  • Compressor: Constant 4–4.5 bar working pressure, air output depending on nozzle ≥ 250–350 l/min
  • Nozzles & air caps: Fine/medium nozzles for texture control; keep spare nozzles ready
  • Air hose & fittings: Kink-resistant hose (min. 10 m), clean and dry air (water separator)
  • Mixing tools: Jiffy mixer/attachment, measuring cups with scale, stirring sticks
  • Sanding tools: Orbital/air sander, cup brush; sandpaper P80–P180
  • Cleaning & degreasing tools: Spray bottles, lint-free cloths, waste containers
  • Masking tools: Film/paper dispenser, cutter, squeegee
  • Measuring & testing devices: Thickness gauge, thermo-/hygrometer (substrate temperature & humidity)
  • Safety: A2/P2 respirator, nitrile gloves, safety glasses, overall, hearing protection

Set up & use tools correctly

  • Pressure: Start at 4 bar, test on cardboard, then fine-tune (4–4.5 bar).
  • Nozzle: For base coat use medium nozzle; for fine texture smaller nozzle / more distance.
  • Spray distance: Base coat approx. 25–35 cm; texture optionally from greater distance.
  • Layer thickness: Sides ~1 mm, surfaces ~1.5 mm; apply a second/third coat if needed without long breaks.
  • Air quality: Always use water/oil separator – avoid contamination.

Care & cleaning of tools

After spraying, immediately empty leftover material from the gun, clean cup/nozzle, blow out air channels. Store hoses without pressure, check seals, lightly oil moving parts (not in material path).

Troubleshooting

  • Gun spitting: Clean nozzle, check material viscosity, increase pressure.
  • Texture too rough: Use smaller nozzle / reduce distance, lower pressure slightly.
  • Uneven pattern: Overlap 50%, keep constant speed and distance.
  • Adhesion problems: Substrate must be clean/sanded, primer applied within proper time frame.
