Coating the T6 floor with SPEEDLINER – Step by Step

In the guide we explain all the steps to coat the cargo floor of your vehicle with SPEEDLINER. From preparation, sanding, priming to coating, we show you everything in detail. Practical tips & tricks help you at every step. Durable protection for your load area.

Step 1: Sand surfaces

Floors and walls are roughly cleaned, rust removed if necessary, and sanded with a sander. For fast and effective sanding we recommend a pneumatic or electric sander with a cup brush.

Important: Only scuff painted surfaces, do not sand to bare metal.

Step 2: Mask & seal

Clean all areas with a vacuum cleaner and protect them from coating material with masking paper and masking film.

We recommend using the steel-wire tape as the master tape. Seal all transitions with PU sealer.

Step 3: Clean the surfaces

Use the WDC universal cleaner to remove all grease, wax, or other residues.

Step 4: Apply primer

AP101 Universal Primer applied with spray gun

Prime all surfaces to be coated with AP101 – Universal Primer. This is done with a spray gun or a brush.

Primer: observe at least 20 minutes of drying time

Let AP101 – Universal Primer dry for at least 20 minutes, but no more than 4 hours. After 4 hours it must be reapplied.

Step 5: Prepare the coating material

Further information on the mixing ratio of component A, component B, and the liquid color pigment can be found in the SPEEDLINER processing guidelines.

Step 6: Apply the coating material

With the SPEEDLINER Hopper Gun you can coat the floor and the walls easily and quickly.

Spraying the SPEEDLINER coating onto the T6 floor

Depending on the application, we recommend a layer thickness of at least 1.5 mm; side walls and edges at least 1 mm. Greater layer thicknesses are possible at any time.

By adding anti-slip granulate you can make your floor anti-slip with different slip classes.

Step 7: Short drying time (optional)

Short flash-off time before texturing

After successful spraying, a short drying phase follows. Then the desired texture is applied. The texture influences the appearance of the floor coating.

Texture is sprayed from a greater distance

The coating material is sprayed onto the surface from a greater distance. What You See Is What You Get: The structure remains during curing.

Step 9: Remove master masking tape

After another pause, the master masking tape is carefully removed.

Carefully remove the master masking tape after spraying

In hard-to-reach places, wait about 2 hours before removing the tape. The steel-wire tape can cut the coating for up to 12 hours.

Step 10: Demasking

Let the bedliner protective coating dry for at least 12 hours and protect it from water and moisture.

Demasking: remove films and tapes, assemble parts

Remove masking film and paper, remove the masking tape, and mount the add-on parts.

Step 11: Curing

Done, that’s it! During the curing process the protection increases further and the material bonds permanently with the vehicle.
