Before applying SPEEDLINER and Speedliner Pro, sanding is one of the most important steps. Only a roughened, matte surface ensures optimal adhesion of the coating.

Why do you need to sand?

Sanding roughens the surface and removes old paint residues, dirt or coating remains. This allows the new protective coating to adhere permanently and evenly.

Untreated or smooth surfaces without sanding lead to poor adhesion and later peeling of the coating.

Always wear your protective equipment when sanding – respirator, safety goggles and gloves – to protect yourself from dust and particles.

Which products do you need for sanding?

Before you start sanding, make sure you have all the necessary products:

• Protective equipment: Respirator, safety goggles, gloves, protective overall
• Abrasives: Sandpaper grit 180 or finer
• Cub Brush: For use with air grinder or drill
• Sanding tool: Air grinder or orbital sander
• Cloths: For wiping sanding dust

Very important! After sanding, thoroughly remove all dust so that primer or coating can adhere properly.

Sanding explained step by step

Sanding includes the following steps:

1. Preparation: Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of coarse dirt.
2. Sanding: Sand the surface evenly with 180 grit sandpaper or use a Cub Brush with air grinder. Aim for a matte surface without shiny spots.
3. Edges & corners: Sand hard-to-reach areas by hand to ensure all spots are roughened.
4. Inspection: Check for an even matte finish and remove shiny or unsanded areas.
5. Dust removal: Wipe the surface thoroughly with a clean cloth or compressed air.

Afterwards, the surface is ready for priming and coating.
