Overview
Do you need cleaners for your project?
Cleaning is one of the most important steps. Only with the right cleaner you will achieve a clean and grease-free surface. Especially when coating, different cleaners are used than for painting. We recommend the following cleaners:
Why should you clean?
Before coating, you must thoroughly clean your vehicle to remove dust and dirt from the surface. Only a clean vehicle allows primer or undercoat to adhere properly. Therefore, always use our special cleaners and degreasers to achieve the best results.
Always wear gloves after cleaning, as skin oils can contaminate the clean surface again. Overshoes should also be worn when entering the area to keep dust away.
Which products do you need for cleaning?
- Respirator mask: We recommend disposable paint masks with protection class A2/P3
- Gloves: Depending on the cleaner, use disposable gloves or chemical-resistant gloves
- Protective overall: With hood and zipper, protects you and your clothing
- Spray bottle: Saves cleaner and degreaser by applying more evenly
- Solvent-resistant cloths: For wiping and cleaning
Very important! Always wear protective equipment. Most cleaners and degreasers are hazardous to health.
Which cleaner do you need?
- Washing thinner: Affordable cleaner for brushes, rollers or as pre-cleaner. Not suitable before applying primer.
- Spray gun cleaner: Inexpensive cleaner for spray guns, brushes, rollers and more.
- Silicone remover: Gentle and does not attack paint. Perfect for silicone and grease residues.
- Special cleaner: Strong cleaner for all surfaces except plastic. Ideal for painted surfaces that need to be coated.
- Plastic cleaner: Mild cleaner, only for plastic surfaces.
Cleaning explained step by step
Cleaning includes the following steps:
- Washing the vehicle: If you use a car wash, select the smallest program without wax or gloss. Alternatively, clean your vehicle thoroughly at a self-wash station.
- Drying: Dry the vehicle with microfiber cloths in your workshop, garage or yard. Ensure the surface is completely dry. Remove hidden water under seals or trims with compressed air or leave the vehicle overnight indoors.
- Wiping: Use silicone remover to remove residues. Wipe thoroughly with cloths and replace them regularly.
- Final drying: Use a second clean cloth to immediately wipe dry.
Important: Always clean partial areas only. Otherwise the cleaner may dry before the whole area is processed. Replace cloths regularly to ensure all dirt is removed. Before each new step, the surface must be cleaned again.
As a last step before coating, the surface is wiped again with our special cleaner or plastic cleaner.
